The earlier figure of 5% incompatible apps in the Windows phones Tango has changed. It can be interpreted in two ways.

One, comparing the number of total apps available to the compatibility:

This figure comes out to be an affordable 1.6%.

The statistics: This figure has been deduced considering the number of apps currently running on the Windows phone Marketplace, which is 86,292.

Two, comparing the number of top apps to the compatibility

The incompatibility figure is higher than the overall compatibility and this is where our concern lies.

Out of all the incompatible apps the games contribute to the major portion.

Statistics: Out of 8,032 games available in Marketplace, 310 (3.8%) are incompatible. Games are twice as likely to be incompatible than apps. They make 22% of total number incompatible apps, with only 12% of content available in marketplace. 25.2% of Xbox Live titles do not run.

However, we would like to state that the issue of specification constrained apps has been observed in lower cost Android and Blackberry devices. Microsoft has arguably done a better job than its rivals. Existing apps are being updated for 256 MB device compatibility. For example: Rovio is said to be working on update for the best-selling game: Angry Birds.

While Lumia 610 users, currently experiencing the power crunch with the unavailability of the high end games (since we have been highlighting it too much); should feel lucky to avail the 95% of the Windows Phone experience for half the price.

An excellent model, Windows 610 was sold in no time. Little were we aware that Windows has issued a statement restricting “few” apps on the device. Now that we know that this “few” includes hottest games ever: Angry Birds!!!

Nokia and Microsoft are covering the fact under the news that assures of a version of Angry Birds specifically optimized for Windows Phone Tango’s 256 MB RAM. Editor-in-chief, Heidi Lemmetyinen of Nokia Conversations blog said:

While the app is not available as yet, we are positive to announce the release date soon.

As they say: “There is a silver lining behind a dark cloud”. We just hope the dark clouds give way to the light on the other side.

Thanks Nokia for being so considerate!!

Lumia 610 has always been in news: from pre-launch till date, for various reasons. Although Windows Nokia suggests that the handset is well optimized for the 256 MB RAM and 800 MHz processor.

Recently Nokia Lumia 610 was in news for the wrong reason. The phone does not support Skype, video calling app Tango, famous Angry Birds and the football games PES on the handset.

Looking back to the days when Microsoft declared that only 5% of apps in the marketplace will not install on Tango handsets. Little was known that the best apps will fall in the category of this 5%, which could not be installed. Well, not that we know, we would only expect fair business with all the facts mentioned while purchasing the phone. This is tantamount to launching a phone just for the sake of it. Nokia has made great many errors during the Symbian days when it would senselessly release phone that were not upto the mark as per the market demand. With Windows Phone coming into the picture and a new leader taking charge, we had speculated that this “fever”of Nokia will finally die down. But we had speculated wrongly.

Samsung is doing a good job by keeping the galaxy lineup up to the mark. All low end Galaxies get the same treatment. Same goes wit the mid-end and high end Galaxies. With Lumia 610 and promises made by Nokia, we wonder if we are we asking too much?

Official release of the Microsoft Tango finalized at the beginning of June. Although Tango ROMs have already been floating around for some time now, Microsoft has pushed the dates ahead so that more operators could finish testing. Basically, Microsoft is planning a universal roll-out, much like the Mango.

Tango will be released over an extending time-frame in various regions like the Mango update which took almost two months to reach nearly 90% of devices. A bigger welcome is planned for Tango, since it brings with it 500 new features.

Let’s see if carriers can take an advantage of the extended time for the Tango update!!

Nokia 710 Tango OS update is doing the rounds on the Nokia Care Suite servers. China experiences the Windows Phone 7.5 Consumer Release (CR) 3 with the ROM 1600.3029.8773.12111.

Windows Phone OS 8773, the “gold” version of Tango supports smaller changes like 256 MB devices and MMS enhancements. With Mango CR1 (8107) or Mango CR2 (8112) OS already updated in many of the phones, the new CR3 stands a little chance. AT&T is expected to rollout CR3 (8773+) for future devices to keep up the pace with other OS in the market.

Lumia 710 users can now update the new ROM from the Nokia server and receive the notifications from Zune desktop within few days. A safe bet for China to update their Lumia 710 using Nokia Care Suit. With the language pack on board not known, the risk to download the OS is entirely yours.

The much promised and similarly awaited Windows Phone Tango has been unveiled by Microsoft at the MWC.

Microsoft has lowered the hardware specs for Tango to smoothly run. The Windows Phone 7.5  now runs on Qualcomm 7×27 processors and 256MB of RAM, thus ushering a new era, ahem, for low end smartphones.

But this comes alonwwith some sacrifices at core level. SkyDrive automatic uploads and Bing Local Scout have both been removed from devices with 256MB of RAM. The reason behind this is that they stored a large amount of data in RAM, which is plainly not feasible on low RAM devices. Though 95 percent of existing applications will work fine on these devices, apps that use a lot of memory (aka badly programmed apps) will be slow and clunky on the updated platform.  The multitasking feature is also to go down the gutter except for background audio.

But there is a silver lining to all this..!! The perk comes as an improved MMS which can  now handle video and multiple images as well as a new voice notes feature to record one minute audio snippets.

you can get a hands on demo of the ZTE orbit running the Tango HERE.

Stay tuned for more..!!

Microsoft has been localizing Windows and expanding its base since ages. A big leap to the effect is the Windows Phone Tango, made to support 120 languages. With it, Microsoft will be able to leapfrog the competition in this area.

According to a report from an Indian Developer: iOS supports 34 languages, Mango supports 35, Android supports 55 and Tango surpasses all with record crashing number: 120. A confirmation was made at the Windows Phone dev camp suggests that “the next version” will support native code; not sure Tango/ Apollo.

Tango and Nokia plan to conquer and rule the hearts in numerous markets that have not been served. The added benefit being the wider language coverage. Now all we have to do is: count the increasing number of distribution and sales.

XDA guys have yet done it again. They have spotted a Windows Phone, supposedly Tango, in the wild, running on the HTC Mazaa.

According to a post by user arjey.

Is the ROM based phone windows 8.0 already in release to developers?
I see our site http://www.lynxinteractive.com/WP7DeviceStats/ (photo attached), there appears to OS HTC Mazaa 7.10.8621
is there any possibility that we can port it to Windows phone first generation?

Well this, according to us, should not be Windows Phone 8, because it ought to begin with 8.x.x. But it is still interesting to note that the advance towards the Windows Phone 8 (Apollo?) is near.
