We have recently performed an update to WordPress 2.8.

Crazy Sunday #8 – no stupid text edition

Welcome to week 8 of the (hopefully never-ending) Tamoggemon Content Network “Crazy Sunday” promotion! I am currently traveling, and thus don’t feel like typing a long description text – which I apparently just typed anyways.

This week, we are giving away something which isn’t exactly PocketPC-related, but could still be interesting for some of you: a free Proporta product for your iPod or iPhone (excluding the newly-released 3Gs). While the choice is officially random, your feedback might just influence the randomness to a large extent.

In order to get your grubby hands onto it, all you need to do is leave a useful and valuable comment on ANY post on this news service along with your email address in the email field. Type the word IPOD at the end to indicate that you own an iPod or iPhone 2G/3G. Doing so is free and anonymous, as your identity is protected by Austrian press laws unless you post sth political or advocate criminal acts.

Last week’s price was a free copy of MSDict PONS Kompaktwörterbuch Englisch. It goes out to user Mike, who hopefully can speak German. In case anybody else feels like taking a stab, hit the TamsShop and use the discount code CRAZYSUNDAY to get 20% off!

With that, I wish you all the best – see you here again next week!

Tamoggemon Crazy Sunday hits #6

Finding a non-X-rated topic for this week’s Crazy Sunday giveaway was difficult at best – I hope that this one fits the taste of all of you. We’re in the sixth week now, and have given away a fair load of prizes all across the news network…so there should be no reason for unhappiness.

This week, you are invited to get your hands onto a copy of FlipSide. FlipSide brings CoverFlow support to your media player, and has scored excellently in a TamsPPC review!

User pc claimed a license of SplashMoney. In case anyone of you wants to take a pop, use the discount code CRAZYSUNDAY to get 20% off it in the TamsShop.

With that, I wish you all the best – see you again here next week!

Tamoggemon Crazy Sunday V

Palm’s V series is one of the major milestones in terms of handset design…which means that five can be considered a lucky number. So: all those afraid of the number four should jump right back into the competition – there are more prizes to be given away.

This week, a license of SplashMoney can be claimed by leaving a valid comment. SplashMoney helps you keep your finances in check – save that cash, matey!

Unfortunately, Tetraphobia affected comment uptake…which means that NS Basic will find a worthy home another day. Hit the product’s web site if you want to develop something – it pays!

With that, I wish you all the best of luck – see you here next week!

Tamoggemon Crazy Sunday – next round

The first round of Crazy Sunday has just ended on the six participating news services – and the winners have been determined and were furthermore contacted by email. But before we look at who lucked out, let’s look at this week’s price.

This week, I am proud to give away a license of Backup from Resco sro. I was involved in the marketing and development of this particular gem of a program, and have to wholeheartedly recommend it to each and everyone of you. Keep your data safe – it really pays out!

As usual: post a non-spam comment with your email address in the email field on any news story to participate. The Tamoggemon Content team wishes you all the best!

Our free license of TealAuto, which is TealPoint Software’s take at vehicular management, goes out to user John. In case anyone of you feels like it, get a trial version of the program here (not for sale in the TamsShop, so no rebate possible – sorry).

Tamoggemon Crazy Sunday – let’s go!

Dear Readers,
Please accept my most sincere apologies for not having written more in the past few days, but I was without my laptop due to a variety of shipment eekers with a German web shop.

However, better late than never…please give a warm welcome to crazy Sunday. Crazy Sunday is the latest brainchild of yours truly’s wife, and will allow you to pick up a nice bunch of free stuff in the next few months (void where prohibited!).

The rules of Crazy Sunday are easy: I announce a new product here every Monday, along with the winner of the last one. As this one is delayed, the next announcement will be on Monday, the 20th. BTW: the winner is chosen at random from all people who lave left behind a non-spam comment on any post along with a valid email address in the email field.

TealPoint Software has donated a license of TealAuto as this week’s price. TealAuto is a must-have for everybody who owns or rents a car:

Use TealAuto to record all your car, truck, or motorcycle fueling, trips, and service stops, and then generate reports and graphs based on those records.

Even though I personally don’t own a car, I am sure that the program is excellent: TealPoint has been developing Palm OS software for ages and has achieved veteran status there.

For the item above, all comments posted on the 12th of April are counted. In case you haven’t talked back yet, do so now – it is free and anonymous (your email address is protected by Austrian law unless you post political stuff).

Tamoggemon Content Network: planned maintenance on Wednesday

This is NOT an April Fool’s joke!
Dear Readers,
Our recent growth has caused major issues for our host Brainsware: there are now so many of you that our server architrcture needs to be changed in order to allow us to serve all of you as good as we aspire to do.

In order to do this, a maintenance downtime will take place on the 1st of April, from 22h to 23h local time. This translates to 13h00 in San Francisco or 16h in New York. During this time span, the following web sites may not be accessible:

Afterwards, the Tamoggemon Content team will be honoured to welcome you again on our news services!

All the best
Tam Hanna for the Tamoggemon Content Team

Apologies for downtime

we sorry dmk Apologies for downtimeDear Readers,
please accept our apologies for the downtimes experienced today, yesterday and the day before. Our recent growth has caused issues for our host brainsware and their server partner Server4You, which were furthermore escalated by a network outage at Server4You’s.

Our news services have been migrated to a new server in order to make sure that they remain fast and responsive: and, as it happens so often, some database eekers occurred in the process. Shouldn’t happen, we know – but it does.

Once again, please accept our apologies…and don’t forget to enjoy the even higher speed of the new server!

Yours
Tam Hanna and the Tamoggemon Content team

Next up: NFC Congress

Gebaeude Hagenberg 2 Next up: NFC CongressI haven’t posted all I saw at the MWC yet, but am happy to inform you of the next event covered on the Tamoggemon Content Network: look forward to the FH Hagenberg’s NFC Congress.

While most university-hosted tradeshows are pathetic, the FH Hagenberg has managed to attract key players of the industry – which means that almost everybody who has something to say in the European NFC world will be there.

In case you are new to the technology: NFC, short for Near Field Communications, is a technology which powers transmitters embedded into everyday objects like business cards. These can then be used for purchasing things, granting access to locations in an iButtonesque fashion, to buy stuff and much more. For example, the MWC tickets were NFC-based…which meant that they contained a chip with visitor information which could be scanned wirelessly by booth attendants wanting to find out more or stay in touch.

Further information is upcoming shortly – stay tuned…

TamsPPC has a shoutbox!

Dear Readers,
we are proud to inform you all that we have now grown large enough to warrant a shoutbox of our own – it should begin to pop up below the ads in a few hours!

The extra text field is not intended to be a super-strong captcha – all it does is thwart stupid bots from trashing our shoutbox with their useless ads. Targeted human spamming remains possible…but will be taken care of by hand as soon as we find out about it!

Please hit it hard – let’s get the party started!

All the best

Clarification and Apology re Image used in Chinese 3G article

Hebei Wenan jin fasheng dizhen Beijing you zhengan Clarification and Apology re Image used in Chinese 3G article
Dear Readers,
I have recently received various emails from people asking why we used the left-hand side image below on our post about Chinese 3G technologies. According to them, it is an article covering a recent earthquake with victims…

Tamoggemon Publishing apologizes if anyone of you has felt harmed or annoyed due to this image. We have taken it off an image service, as we wanted a picture of Chinese calligraphy to accompany the story. Tamoggemon does not have access to a Chinese native-speaker, and thus was unable to understand what the image was about. Once again: it was chosen for purely aesthetic reasons!

The image has since been replaced (or is in the process of being replaced) all over the Tamoggemon Content network. Once again, please accept our personal apologies – our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wholeheartedly apologize for causing them grief…

Tam Hanna
