So far, no manufacturer has released numbers which allow for a direct comparison between Android and Windows Mobile – we got sales numbers, single device numbers for top sellers and that was it.
Mobile Business Briefing now reports the following:
… Acer expects its smartphone sales, including those using Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform, to total between 2 million and 3 million units this year. Acer expects to ship at least 250,000 Liquid handsets by the end of this quarter, compared with initial expectations for 150,000 to 200,000. Smartphones will account for 10 percent of Acer’s revenue in about three years, one year later than initial company predictions because of last year’s global economic slump.
If we put these numbers to scale, we see that Android accounts for at least 33% of Acer’s sales – let’s see how long Windows Mobile will still be able to tug along…
