Don’t ask me why Verizon stuck to Windows Mobile 6.1 on its Omnia 2 – Austria’s governmental carrier A1 has just released the Samsung Omnia 2 running Windows Mobile 6.5.

Unfortunately, the device is still too new – the flagship store I visited had but a dummy. BTW: the box goes for 99 Euros with a rather large contract:

However, the device definitely runs Windows Mobile 6.5. Skeptics are advised to look at the shot below, which clearly spells it out:

As of now, this is all I know – stay tuned…
