A big thank-you goes to Hutchison Austria for doing what HTC could not: they provided us with a loaner of their version HTC Touch 3G at their own expense!

HTC’s Touch 3G is sized in an extremely comfortable fashion: the device is perfectly sized and can be handled comfortably. But can build quality stack up?

The front of the Touch 3G is dominated by the rather large QVGA screen, which is on one level with the housing around it. A small LED beside the speaker grill informs about various system events:

Looking at the buttons reveals true gorgeousness. No stupid touchpad areas, no trackballs, no meatcrap – its classical, well-engineered buttons all over the place:

The back of the Touch 3G is plain except for the camera, which sits about 3mm in the housing as to protect it from fingerprints:

Removing the back unveils the 1100mAH battery:

The stylus and power button are at the top:

The bottom contains HTC’s custom ExUSB port:

A look at the left side reveals the small but well-handleable volume buttons:

The right side is plain:

Finally, here’s a look at the stylus. It is in the middle – and is the smallest of the bunch:

Cutting a long story short: the HTC Touch 3G is beautiful – and comfortable to handle. The form factor and excellent build quality make forgetting about the QVGA screen and proprietary headset port really easy…Hutchison is peddling a winner here.

Tune in soon for a look at the device’s screen!
