Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X1 can be considered a casemakers worst nightmare: its entire front moves flushly, which makes attaching the case to the device extremely diffiicult. Fortte is known for shining in areas where other manufacturers struggle – can their case stack up?
Fortte’s case ships in a small box – my mailman refused to drop it in my mailbox, forcing me to hit the road to the post office:

The case itself is in a sleek blister, and arrived undamaged:

I hate belt clips – Fortte honoured my wish and left it out:

Getting the phone into the case is somewhat awkward. Try to push the handles under the screen, pull them over the keyboard and push them into the buttons at the back.

This process takes a few seconds, but pays: the keyboard is not obstructed, and the device sits firmly in its case:

The front of the case is plain:

A quick look at the back reveals two things: the camera cut-out (which happens to help keep the lens clean) and the lack of a belt clip dock which could scratch other handsets:

Even though the headphone jack looks somewhat covered in this shot, plugging in various headsets was no issue:

The same has to be said about the MiniUSB port:

Camera and volume buttons are not obstructed either:

As already stated in the past: this case can be had in almost 100 different color shades. The full list can be had here…
In the end, Fortte’s book-style case probably is the best case on the market. Protectivity is excellent, and don’t get me started on the (somewhat pricey) color options. Its only weakness is the awkward removal process: if your handset crashes often, better look elsewhere…
