I have no idea what was going on between Microsoft and Samsung…but I am pretty sure that the Redmond-based boys did not like Samsung’s announcement about how “WM 6.1 was unsuitable for consumer handsets“.
I am pretty sure that Samsung can not afford to fuxate its relationship with Microsoft due to their dependence on Microsoft’s PC operating system…which is what could have forced them to rebrand the Omnia HD to its original model designation. If MobileCrunch is right, the device is called Samsung i8910 from now on.
According to them, the reasons are as follows:
To avoid confusion between the original Omnia, which is Windows Mobile, and OmniaHD, which is Symbian, Samsung is deferring to the model number
I have already sent an email to Samsung Austria, and expect to hear more from them soon…
