The folks at Gigabyte’s had a very small booth at the MWC, which probably is why their GSmart1204 didn’t get too much love by the mainstream press. However, yours truly isn’t afraid of entering booths where no free food is offered…which is why I proudly present the images below:

Specs-wise, the device is more than decent. If the build quality is as high as the one found on its predecessor, I am pretty sure that this critter is a winner:

Giga-Byte’s staff was more than responsive, but couldn’t say too much and couldn’t let me handle the device either:

We are under strict orders from Microsoft to not demo the WM 6.5 device to anybody. The only screen we are allowed to show is the one with the bird.

As for engineering samples – expect more in April. BTW: the real release is planned for Q2.

In the end, I hope that Gigabyte’s plans to bring the device to carriers in the Nordic states of Europe will work out – stay tuned to TamsPPC for the full scoop!
