I was somewhat surprised to find a Hutchison Austria booth at the recent ITnT fair – and was even more surprised to find the following two boxen along with a few Xperia’s. As usual, attendants were talkative…let’s see what there is to see:

HTC Touch HD
The HTC Touch HD has been for sale quite some time – even though it was announced without any ado, the box is selling through very well (aka almost instantly). However, no stock shortages were reported:

HTC Touch 3G
The real zinger was the Touch 3G, which was shown in pre-release state. Booth attendants said that the box is expected to drop in the next 6 weeks, and will cost 99 Euros with a basic contract:

HTC’s TouchFLO is installed, but is not as fancy as the one on other devices:

The box has a very ergonomic design – here are a few shots next to an X1. The only eeker I had was the QVGA screen, which feels very “coarse”:

A weird battery status monitor is included:

I personally feel that the Touch 3G is a likely winner once Three’s initial price games end. When peddled for 0 or 50 Euros with a decent contract, I feel that the device will fly off the shelves. The current price of 100 Euros is a bit steep, but becomes justified if you look at the low entry fee of just 9€ a month for 300 minutes of voice calling. As for the Touch HD…nothing to add here…
