lg incite 2 AT&T recalls LG InciteAccording to the official AT&T forum, the carrier has begun to recall LG’s latest smartphone for a software update:

“Here is the information that they (meaning the store people) need to be looking for. A ‘Blue Dot’ will be placed on the master carton, gift box and transceiver (in the indented box area under label) of all new CT810s for easy detection of updated devices. The orange dot phones are the ones with the issue.”

After I explained that the stores seemed not to know much about the blue dot given I was yesterday by the store that blue dot boxes being Best Buy boxes and orange dot boxes were ATT boxes, I was told the following:

The problem is related to SMS messaging (Curse of Silence, anyone) – it prevents certain types of SMS from being sent out.

P.S. I wonder why a recall is needed to fix this. If it really is just a software update, why can’t customers be given a flash upgrade to update their devices? Questions over questions…let’s see what AT&T has to say about this…
