In the last months, online and brick-and-mortar retailers have taken turns at announcing release dates. A big Austrian retailer called Hartlauer even dedicated a full page of a flyer to the device (TamsPPC covered it here).
Back then, the device was said to cost 799€ and hit Austrian roads in October – an Expansys spokesman has now stated that the device coll cost 740€ and will hit the Expansys user base in week 41, which translates to 6th-12th of October.
Even though Expansys has received demo units, Sony Ericsson themselves have not confirmed the launch date according to the unnamed spokesperson.

It is suppose to hit Britain in October as well, and rumor has it maybe America in November to clear Christmas. This would be great marketing stragety for the xperia x1 if Sony followed through.
